Creating Avenues of Support for Our U.S. Military

7‑Eleven is proud of our U.S. armed forces and committed to supporting the men and women who serve, as well as their families. This support is carried out through our hiring practices, veteran-focused programs, and philanthropic partnerships.

“Folks in the military bring teamwork, discipline, accountability – they know how to get a mission done.”

Veterans Franchising

7‑Eleven introduced the Veterans Franchise program in 2009, offering discounted franchise fees to retired or separated veterans of the U.S. armed forces who have been honorably discharged from service. Qualified veterans who are first-time 7‑Eleven Franchisees receive a reduced franchise fee for their first store.

Special Financing for Military Veterans

Since the program launched, more than 100 veterans have franchised under these programs and 7‑Eleven has awarded more than $2.6 million in fee discounts. The company has attended at least 50 veteran-focused events and met with more than 800 veterans to discuss 7‑Eleven franchise opportunities as a post-military career. Of the veterans who have franchised with 7‑Eleven, 22 have more than 1 store, and one Franchisee successfully owns and operates 5 stores.

Hiring and Training Veterans

7‑Eleven is a member of the JPMorgan Chase Veteran Jobs Mission – a partnership of many firms pledging to hire 100,000 veterans by 2020 – to help active duty, reservists, and other veterans transition from military to civilian life.

Veteran Jobs Mission: Since the company’s pledge began in 2011, 7‑Eleven has:

  • Participated in and/or hosted the coalition’s quarterly planning meetings
  • Participated in and/or sponsored hiring events
  • Hired thousands of veterans in full-time and part-time roles in support of the VJM mission
  • Hired more than 500 veterans specifically for a variety of leadership and support positions since implementing hiring strategy in 2014

In May 2017, the 7‑Eleven Veterans Outreach Organization (7-EVOO) was officially chartered as a forum to bring veterans, veteran spouses, parents of veterans, and veteran supporters together to not only improve themselves as 7‑Eleven professionals but to also support the veteran community inside and outside of the organization.

7‑Eleven veterans in Field Consultant roles have been featured in several editions of GI Jobs magazine, demonstrating how leadership skills honed in the military can lead to successful careers in the retail industry.

7‑Eleven fulfills its philanthropic mission to support military families by teaming up with nonprofit military aid organizations. Over the past 16 years, 7‑Eleven has contributed more than $6.7 million in cash and in-kind donations to support the cause. Initiatives include:

Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund

7‑Eleven is a national sponsor of the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund, a nonprofit organization with a mission to give back to veterans who served honorably in any branch of the U.S. armed forces, and to spouses and children of veterans in need of financial support to further their education. The Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund is committed to providing support to those most affected by the global war on terror through college scholarships and grants, financial aid for professional certification programs and non-degree programs, educational career counseling, and mentorship.

The George W. Bush Presidential Center

7‑Eleven is a founding and sustaining partner of the Center and contributed to its Military Service Initiative. In addition, the company supports the Center’s annual events such as the Warrior 100 Bike Ride and Warrior Open Golf Tournament with product donations.

Warrior Gateway

7‑Eleven is a founding contributor to Warrior Gateway, a nonprofit that supports active, retired, and veteran military personnel and their families by connecting them with federal, state, and local government programs and nonprofit organizations in their communities.

The USO

7‑Eleven partnered with the USO to support the well-being of active military through the promotional program Operation: Thank You, which:

  • Enlisted 7‑Eleven customers in showing their support for U.S. troops by making a donation to the USO at participating 7‑Eleven stores to support Operation USO Care Package, a program that provides care packages to troops serving overseas.
  • Deployed a brigade of Slurpee-mobiles that fanned out across the country, taking America’s favorite frozen carbonated drink to troops and their families stationed at 10 U.S. military bases.
  • Offered a special Slurpee® salute to active, veteran, and retired U.S. military personnel and their immediate families with free small Slurpee drinks.
